Training and Information Day for Supervisors, Managers and Life Coaches working with Trainees.

Trainee Induction  Part-time in first month  Study Days built in  Mixture of core training and bespoke trainee scheme training  Placement Visits

Support Structure - supervisors  Arrange placement induction  Arrange learning opportunities to help develop competencies  Organise at least monthly supervision  Carry out 3 and 6 month reviews  Keep in touch with life coaches  Identify a buddy

Support Structure – life coaches  Is a requirement for all trainees  Aims to assist trainees to make the transition into work in the ‘social care sector’  Focuses on their feelings and thoughts about the impact that work has on their health, identity, self development, social networks and commitments.  Provides personal and career development

Support Structure – buddies Support with;  Who to contact in specific work- related situations  How to operate office machinery  Tips on the culture and procedures of the office  Insight into client base and client/worker relationships

Support Structure – buddies Won’t Support with;  Personal issues unrelated to their employment  Approval of leave/sickness  Appraisal/supervision  Allocation of tasks  Career development

Support Structure – L&D Manager  Organises and facilitates Induction  Facilitates quarterly reviews  Organises core training  Offers support to supervisors and life coaches  Will offer limited support in cases of placement breakdown

Support Structure – TR service user group  Act as a consultation group for TR  Act as a support group for participants  Offer support to TR to publicise issues

Support Structure Placement Team L&D Manager Conducts induction training and regular group review sessions with trainees. Trouble shoots if placement experiences difficulties.
