STATE INSTITUTE OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION, BELLOVA 54/A, BRATISLAVA , National Project: Supporting Guidance of Primary School Pupils for Vocational Education and Training through the Development of Polytechnic Education Aimed at Developing Job Skills and Working with Talents. “ ITMS project code : Objective: Convergence OP VZDELÁVANIE – PO 1 Reforma systému vzdelávania a odbornej prípravy, opatrenie 1.1 Premena tradičnej školy na modernú. Projekt je spolufinancovaný z ESF.

AIM OF THE PROJECT -Fulfill the needs of the society (primary school students education in the required fields of labour market) -Vocational education and training at primary schools – polytechnical education development -Increase of students´ interest in vocational education (subjects – chemistry, physics, biology and technical education) -Innovative teaching forms and methods

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROJECT -49 pilot primary schools from 7 regions (new classrooms for physics, biology, chemistry and technical education) -500 non-pilot primary schools from 7 regions

ACTIVITIES OF THE PROJECT Activity Support of polytechnical education at primary schools; further education of teachers Activity Support of primary school students´ professional orientation at vocational education and training Activity Work with talents at primary schools and secondary vocational schools (competitions)

ACTIVITY 1.1 Focus on the development of polytechnical education at 49 primary schools: a.New classrooms and laboratories – physics, chemistry, biology, technical education b.Continuing (further) education of teachers c.Foreign business trips d.Surveys of students and teachers at 49 pilot primary schools - questionnaires and controlled interviews e.Data evaluation, recommendations

ACTIVITY 2.1 Focus on educational consultatns and their help with professional orientation: a.Special software which will identify the potential of students´ orientation at vocational education and their preparation on education (education vs. practice) b.Job catalogue c.Excursions to factories

ACTIVITY 3.1 Focus on teachers with talents: a.Competitions, conferences and workshops b.Trainings for teachers Progress of activities monthly checked; annual progress reports; in 2015 final report – recommendations and improvements

THE TARGET GROUP Activity 1.1 Activity 2.1 Activity 3.1  300 students (participants of competitions)  300 teachers from primary and secondary schools  1,960 students from pilot schools and 3,000 students from non-pilot schools.  500 teachers  1,960 students from pilot schools and 3,000 students from non-pilot schools.  1,000 teachers

CONCLUSION -Modernize the curriculum of primary education in physics, biology, chemistry and technical education -Increase the level of students´ interest in vocational education -Equip schools with specialized classrooms -Introduce innovative teaching forms and methods -Involve students into competitions -Follow the demands of the labour market
