Project Based Approach Demand-led training model Specific targets and requirements are developed in an Employment and Skills plan (ESP) at project level so training is made to fit the needs of each project Ensures the supply chain has the skills to deliver on time, on budget and to the right standard

Project Based Approach Led by the Main Contractor Application for NSAfC status requires the Main Contractor to develop a Method Statement and an Employment & Skills Plan with the guidance of CSkills and existing benchmarks Once award NSAfC status, the project will receive funding to appoint a Project Skills Coordinator; who works with the whole supply chain to ensure targets are met and the right training is being delivered

Programme Based Approach Same application process as Project Based Approach but a collection of projects procured by one company Requires minimum £50m spend per year with at least a 3 year duration Applies to a group of projects in the same geographical area

Construction - Sector Based Work Academy (sbwa) Commitment from 8 developers/contractors – Barratt Homes, Carillion, Crest Nicholson, Drew Smith, Mansell, PMC, RG Group and Wates 15 unemployed residents attending Pre-employment Training (PET) and 3- week work experience with guaranteed interviews. The programme focussed on skills for residents from hardest-to-reach groups and NEET All completed PET and 5 progressed straight into employment, including 2 apprentices. 4 living in deprived areas of the city. Sainsbury’s Portswood - National Skills Academy for Retail 2 stage Employment and Skills Plan for construction and end use Construction started September 2011 and store scheduled to open 29 February 2012, with 270 new jobs created including apprenticeships Supported local recruitment campaign for economically inactive residents and NEET, including bespoke information sessions, Pre-employment Training and assessment sessions with Sainsbury’s Ring fenced opportunities and 75 guaranteed interviews confirmed Section 106 – Case Study 2
