General Plan v. Zoning Code If you want to know the long-term plan for your neighborhood, check the General Plan. If you want to know what you can do with your property today, check the Zoning Ordinance. General Plan Sets long-term goals and establishes the location and density of land uses Zoning Ordinance Specific standards and regulations on individual properties to implement the goals of the General Plan
