Four Properties of Multiplication  Commutative Property: The product of the equation is still the same no matter the order of the numbers  Ex. 8 * 4 = 4 * 8  Associative Property: When 3 or more numbers are multiplied, the product is the same regardless of the grouping of the factors  Ex. 2 * (5 * 3) = (2 * 5) * 3

Continued…  Multiplicative Identity Property: The product of any number multiplied by 1 is that number  Ex. 9 * 1 = 9  Distributive Property: The sum of 2 numbers times a third number is equal to the sum of each addend times the third number  Ex. 5 * (4 + 3) = 5 * * 3
