SERVE GOD WITH GLADNESS Altar Servers Ministry

Altar Servers Coordinators Katie Rubly- Head Coordinator Dashawn Bronner Nadia Dolor Leslie Cano- Spanish Coordinator

Katie Rubly I'm 25 years old. I go to Cypress College, planning on transferring to Cal State Fullerton to pursue my major in Kinesiology I started serving our church when I was going into the 4 th grade. Have been serving ever since. Still serve at masses when its sometimes the servers first mass or when servers are by themselves. Also serve at special masses. This will be my third year as the Altar Server Coordinator. I plan to make it my goal to be the best cooridnator that St. Gregory the Great Parish has had because of me being young I can relate to what kids like to do. My goals for this ministry: My goal is to also fundraise so that if any albs get ripped or torn, we have a budget to fix them and also to be able to reward the servers for all their amazing dedication and hard work.

Dashawn Bronner picture Age: Where you go to school: Our goals: Why we serve? What can you expect from us now and in the future?

Nadia Dolor I am 18 years old. I attend Cal State Fullerton. I’m majoring in Animation. I’ve been serving for 9 years I served because I enjoyed taking part in the mass in a different and unique way ( other than a parishioner) You can expect our leadership, responsibility, faith and care to help guide the new altar servers. My goal for this ministry is to help introduce the youth of parish to get involved in their church services and community

Leslie Cano I am 21 years old. I attend Rio Hondo College and I will be transferring to Cal State Long beach by the end of My major is in child development. My goal is to become an elementary school teacher and to one day be a principal. I have been an alter server for 6 years now. My dad was an alter server when he was a young boy, so when I turned fifteen, I volunteered to serve. It's a wonderful ministry to be apart of. It is the best feeling to be up in the alter serving Jesus with an open heart. It has helped me grow in my faith and it has made me a happier person. I cannot imagine my life without alter serving. I am a dedicated and committed server who will try to be at mass every Sunday. Parents can count on me to remind them when their children are serving, when trainings are happening and if they are able to serve special masses such as Christmas mass or Easter. Altar servers can count on me to work with their school schedule, they can count on me to give them tips and to answer any questions or concerns that they may have. My goal for this ministry is for it to grow not only with new servers, but with more coordinators as well. I would love for this ministry to be known in the community for having amazing servers. My goal is to also fundraise so that if any albs get ripped or torn, we have a budget to fix them and also to be able to reward the servers for all their amazing dedication and hard work.

GOALS FOR MINISTRY See our ministry grow not only with servers, but with the trainers and more parent support. Also to have our ministry to be better known in the community. Assist the servers in serving Our Lord the right way. Bring Reverence and beauty to all liturgies. To be fellow leaders in church with younger servers or even siblings.

It is very important to listen to your leaders and follow their instructions. And the most important thing is PRACTICE!!!!! The best advice I can give you is this: when you make a mistake, stop. Take a Deep Breath. Think: “ What should I do?” Do it. Act like nothing is wrong. Then no one but you will know that you made a mistake.

A good server knows what to do and how to do it right. But there is more to being a good server than that. A good server is reverent and responsible.  You come to practice and learn how to serve  you know when you are scheduled to serve  you find a sub for your self when you cant serve  you help other servers do a good job  you come ready to serve god with gladness  you read over your guidelines and glossary to refresh

What do you do when you can’t serve? 1. Call fellow servers and see if they can switch, if you switch make sure you cover for them. 2. If you make a switch make sure to mark it correctly on sign in sheet only on your paper. 3. When you try everyone that you can then either call or and let me know that you tried everyone and know one will switch with you. 4. Please don’t wait till last minute to try and find someone to cover for you though 5. If its an emergency and you cant serve or that morning you get sick call me and I will take it under my responsibility to mark that you had emergency. But also please stating the it as well.
