Discuss Lessons from Wilma Rudolph’s Life You have heard two biographies, one about Harriet Quimby and one about Wilma Rudolph. You as a reader can often learn a lesson from a person’s biography that you can apply to your own life.

LIVELY Lively means to be “active” If someone is lively, the person is energetic and full of life Even though Wilma was often very sick, she was a lively child. Wilma’s love of running and jumping shows that she is lively

Suffix -est means the “most” Liveliest Lively When you add the suffix –est to lively you make liveliest, which means “most lively, or most energetic, or full of life.

MEMORABLE Wilma worked hard to learn to walk again without her leg brace. “Memorable” means “worth remembering” −It is something that is not easy to forget −The day Wilma and her mother mailed the brace to the hospital was memorable, or worth remembering because Wilma hated the brace and from then on she would not have to wear it.

“THROW YOURSELF INTO SOMETHING” Wilma Unlimited tells how Wilma became a champion athlete. When Wilma stopped wearing her leg brace, she was able to take part in the sports and games she could not play before. “Throw yourself into something” means “do something with a lot of energy and enthusiasm.” −You work hard and do your very best −Wilma threw herself into basketball, or played it with lots of enthusiasm and did her very best.
