Wind energy By mark & Samantha

Description It is a renewable resource because the wind will blow as long as the sun shines The heat of the sun makes the air warm and it expands then cool air rushes in and makes wind. At nigh it is just the opposite

history People have been using wind energy since 5000 B.C. They used wind energy to get boats across the Nile river. They also used the wind mills to power homes and pump water. The wind mill blades catch the wind and spin and the spinning makes energy.

Economical and environmental impacts A lot of farmers are getting windmills because it is good for the environment and it is a natural/ renewable resource. Countries world wide are getting windmills to power their cities.

Stored and released Wind power it is much more gentle than a breeze. In the air wind is simple air in motion. It is caused by the uneven heating of the earth’s surface by the sun

Advantages and disadvantages advantagesdisadvantages Wind energy is fueled by the wind, so it's a clean fuel source. Wind energy doesn't pollute the air like power plants that rely on coal. Wind power must compete with conventional generation sources on a cost basis.

Interesting facts Wind is the fastest growing energy source worldwide. An average wind speed of 14mph is required to convert wind energy into electricity. The largest wind turbine in the world is in Hawaii. It stands 20 stories high and has rotors the length of a football field. The earliest known windmills were in Persia (Iran) and looked like large paddle wheels.
