Wind Energy o Wind Energy is air pulled from air flow. By using wind turbines. o Sometimes sails are use to produce mechanical or energy power. o This wind flow, or motion energy, when "harvested" by modern wind turbines.

The History of Wind usage Wind Energy was the first forms of energy used worldwide. It was known to be first used by Egyptians by the Nile River Around the 4 th Century. In China Windmills were used to pump water and in the middle east Mills were used for grains. Wind Mills were not heard of in Europe till the 1300 by the crusaders. 6 How does the wind convert into electricity Wind turbines convert the kinetic energy in the wind into mechanical power. This mechanical power can be used for specific tasks (such as grinding grain or pumping water) or a generator can convert this mechanical power into electricity. Wind turbines are mounted on a tower to capture the most energy. At 100 feet (30 meters) or more above ground, they can take advantage of faster and less turbulent wind.

What are the kind of Wind Energy Pumping Water. Grinding Grain. Convert Kinetic Energy. It can also be used generate energy in to business, schools and homes.

advantages and disadvantages Advantages:  No pollution.  Lowest prices.  Don’t produce atmospheric emission. Disadvantages:  The wind farm may not be cost competitive.  Good wind sites are often location in remote locations.  Sometime birds have been killed by flying into the rotors.

How it’s being used in these days? Wind turbines are available in different sizes and different rotor diameters. A wind turbine is the largest of its kind, so that the blades are very big as football field area and with a height of up to 20 floors. It produces electricity enough to use for 1,400 houses. Also present wind turbines with small power rating of about 50 kW or less, which can be used for three houses independently of the network or to pump water.
