Help, regionally the EU countries in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea to implement the MSFD Support the non-EU to countries for establishing policy for the protection of seas (seas have no boundaries…) Develop a “Smart Monitoring” strategy for continuous monitoring, by synthesizing traditional monitoring-observing systems & Models Support policies and adaptation policies on GES Develop awareness groups and scientific infrastructures and increase capacity building in the Mediterranean and Black Sea

Meeting of the Integrated Monitoring Correspondence Group, Athens, Greece, 30 March - 1 April 2015 Project Summary 1.Identify the interacting patterns of natural and human-derived pressures, assess their impact on marine ecosystems and design an effective and innovative research framework based on sound scientific knowledge 2.Use appropriate scenarios to explore interactions between projected human-derived and natural pressures. 3.Develop a “Smart Monitoring” strategy for continuous monitoring, by synthesizing traditional monitoring-observing systems &Models 4.Design an innovative, small research vessel to serve as a scientific survey tool in very shallow areas 5.Develop a framework of adaptive policies and management schemes to help in reaching GES. 6.Help the selection and application of the appropriate descriptors and indicators of MSFD 7.Promote the principles and objectives of MSFD and EcAp across the SES.
