Minimum requirement in the foreign language II: 6 credits Every student can choose only one of the offered foreign languages: Spanish, French, Russian or German. Minimum requirement for the degree is 6 credits. BScBA students can include one basic course “package” (= alkeiskurssi) of 6 cr (Spanish, French, Russian or German) as part of required language and communication studies for the degree.

More than 6 credits in the foreign language II If a student wants to do both the basic course “package” (6 cr) and the business communication course “package” (6 cr), the other 6 cr can be counted as elective studies a)More language studies as part of the elective studies for DR2013 students b)In “Minor subject studies” for DR2005 students

Exemptions for Finnish and Swedish studies If your secondary education is done in any other language than Finnish or Swedish or abroad, you might not need to do the Finnish language (3 cr) and Swedish language (3 cr) courses (exemption decisions sent to the students already). Finnish for Foreigners (3 cr) offered for the foreign students. The missing credits for BScBA degree are completed by taking - more credits in one of the foreign languages II or - a communication-related elective course

Exemptions for Finnish and Swedish studies (continues) Example: Finnish for Foreigners (3 cr) organized for the foreign students, but they are exempted from completing the Swedish language course (3 cr). -> The missing 3 credits are completed by taking 3 extra credits in one of the foreign languages II (for example Spanish), so the student will complete 9 cr in total: - Basics in Business Spanish 1 (3 cr) - Basics in Business Spanish 2 (3 cr) - Spanish Business Communication 1a (3 cr)

Beginning level Please see the Common European Framework to choose your beginning levels in each language. In general it can be said that in order to participate Business Communication 1 level courses, the student has to have done either - Basic level courses in that language (6 cr) or - studied it in high school (”vähintään lukion lyhyen oppimäärän tiedot ko. kielessä”).

Swedish and Finnish language courses In module 9 (3 weeks; partly self-studying online): Finnish Business Communication (3 cr) In modules 9 and 11 (3+2 weeks): Finnish for Foreigners (3 cr) In module 11 (2 weeks + possible pre-session before mod 11): Swedish Business Communication (3 cr) Groups and schedules will be announced soon.

STEP1 in this registration process: You need to inform us your preferences (1-4) concerning the choice of the second foreign language (Spanish, French, Russian or German). Please note that some students may not get their 1st choice, so think carefully your order of preference. Use the electronic registration from available on Into. Please return the form to Mari Syväoja by by 20 January After we have created the language groups, you will get information on them by .

STEP 2 in this registration process: After we have announced the language groups, you can register for the business courses of the summer 2016 (deadline early February). * Please see the list of available courses in the course schedule. There will be an electronic registration form on Into you need to return to Mari Syväoja by . * NOTE. There will not be any separate info session anymore for summer business courses. These registrations will be confirmed to you individually in February 2016.

Elective courses for the degree The elective courses completed in Mikkeli or during the study abroad will affect your eligibility for different Master´s programs after graduation. In case you have been accepted to the BScBA Program in 2015, please see the criteria for continuing after graduation to different M.Sc. Programs of the Helsinki Campus: In case you have been accepted to the BScBA Program before 2015, please see the admission criteria for the M.Sc. Programs on the website of different universities.
