Photosynthesis
What is photosynthesis? Photosynthesis may sound like a big word, but it's actually pretty simple. You can divide it into two parts: – "Photo" is the Greek word for "Light," and "synthesis," is the Greek word for "putting together," which explains what photosynthesis is. It is using light to put things together.
Plants need to eat, too Plants use photosynthesis to make their food They eat a type of sugar called glucose Since plants can’t move around to get food they stay in one spot
Parts of photosynthesis In order for plants to “eat” they need three things to create their food: – Light (normally from the sun) which provides energy – Water that they absorb through their roots – Carbon dioxide (a gas in our air). They breathe this in like humans breathe in oxygen. Can also be written as CO2
Photosynthesis creates.. When plants have sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide they create two different things: – Oxygen (another gas) which animals need to breathe – Glucose, the sugar that they use as food
