Vulnerability & Adaptation The TAR identified gaps in existing understanding of the nature of vulnerability and opportunities for adaptation. Plus a need for improved scientific and technical capacity to conduct the integrated, multi-disciplinary regional investigations necessary to fill these gaps, esp. in developing countries.

IPCC Research Priorities – WG III Further exploration of the regional, country and sector specific potential of technological and social innovation options (technology diffusion, social innovation). Methodologies for analysis of the potential of mitigation options and their costs (technology learning, risk, assessing implementation policies). Evaluating cc mitigation options in the context of development, sustainability and equity.
