2. 1.REEEP is a global Type II partnership launched by the UK government at the WSSD. 2.REEEP currently comprises 138 partners representing 27 governments, businesses and NGO’s committed to accelerating the uptake of renewable energy and energy efficiency. 3.REEEP is currently funded by various governments such as the Austria, Canada, EU, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, US, and UK. 5. Leveraging existing partnerships REEEP intends to work with established partnerships across the sustainable energy sector. REEEP policy activities aim to : Facilitate exchange of experience between policy makers and regulators on the mechanisms that will accelerate the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency (sustainable energy); Improve understanding of the technical issues related to the integration of sustainable energy into the power system; Recognise and act on the opportunities that energy sector reform provides for the development of energy systems- including the opportunity to incorporate social and environmental objectives from the outset ; Promote better understanding and awareness of economic benefits of sustainable energy - including reduced reliance on fuel imports and opportunities for income generation, particularly in rural areas.

Examples of current Policy Support Projects Development of a national wind energy roadmap for China; –National Implementation Roadmap till 2010; –4000 MW target and technology and industry development plan; International Sustainable Energy Assessment, On-line database of Energy Agreements; –On-line database and GIS on all international energy agreements; –Focus on analytical hubs – US, Europe, India and China Development of Renewable Energy Regulation Methodologies in Mexico; –Development of two regulation methodologies for RE

13. Examples of current projects in Finance Support to the 50 m € fund for Renewable Energy Investments in Southeast Asia, China and India. –50 m € fund, fund management company based in Bangkok Innovative Financing models to accelerate SWH in Brazil and Caribbean, including incorporating CDM Financial Model for Renewable Energy Upgrades in Urban Housing in Africa; –Promote low income urban housing projects – financial model incorporating CDM and TREC benefits

14. Sustainable energy regulation network (SERN) - for regulators, government departments and other stakeholders Based at Warwick University Business School in the UK SERN aims to : secure greater understanding of the benefits of energy efficiency, renewable energy and distributed generation (sustainable energy) amongst energy regulators and government departments secure regulatory mechanisms that incentivise sustainable energy Sustainable Energy Regulation Network (SERN)

16. SERN training modules and case studies and experts : Have formed part of a one week Utility Foundations course run for regulators and government officials in Africa (Lusaka and Cape Town) Are being used in a REEEP funded project to provide training and development support on the implementation of mechanisms to promote renewable energy in the 2003 Energy Act, in Andhra Pradesh. Will be used to assist develop regulation methodologies in Mexico Are now being further developed and expanded in collaboration with REEEP partners – REEEP keen to explore further opportunities with existing and new partners Sustainable Energy Regulation Network (SERN)
