1. Asylum Lake Adventure Day 2013

2. O Every Spring and Fall WMU Natural Areas partners with the Kalamazoo Nature Center and the WMU Office of the President to give 150 third grade students from 4 area schools a chance to visit Asylum Lake Preserve for outdoor fun and education. As part of the "No Child Left Inside" initiative 20 volunteers help students gain an appreciation for plants, animals and each other in a healthy and safe outdoor learning enviroment.

3. Buster Bronco greets the kids at adventure day! Four educational stations were spaced out over the 274 acre of Asylum Lake Preserve allowing kids plenty of exercise.

4. At the Garlic Mustard Pull station students helped remove invasive plant species form the preserve. At the Journaling station students drew pictures and wrote about their nature adventures.

5. At Water Ecology kids got to use nets to find out what lives in beautiful Asylum lake. At the Leadership station students from 4 different schools got to learn about themselves and each other.

6. Third grade students from Mattawan, Woodward, El Sol and Montessori schools were mixed together to encourage new friends and new experiences while enjoying a day in the Preserve.
