One laptop computer per student Venn Diagram (1 per student) Letter Writing Paper (1 per student) Drawing Paper (1 per student) Pencil Crayons Poster board (1 per student)

3 Introduction What does it mean to be a friend? Are you a good friend? In this book, you will be reading about two good friends. Click on the frog below to view pictures of good friends. What do you see?

4 Before Reading Before you begin to read about Frog and Toad, take a picture walk. As you take a picture walk, predict what you think is going to happen in each short story.

5 During Reading While reading, think about these questions: How is Frog a good friend? How is Toad a good friend? Click on the frog below to print out the Venn Diagram and fill it in. Be sure to write about at least five things that Frog and Toad do to show that they are good friends.

6 After Reading Now that you have completed the book, you will need to pick a friend in our class to draw a picture of and write a letter to. In the letter, you will need to make sure that you tell your friend why he or she is special. Be sure to include the five parts of a friendly letter. Click on the frog below to find and print the paper for your letter.

7 Beyond Reading Now that you know how a good friend acts, your job is to design a ‘Wanted’ poster for a good friend. Your poster must include: 1. What you are looking for? (A Good Friend) 2. Words that describe a good friend 3. A picture (of your good friend) 4. Your Name 5. Your Address 6. Your Phone Number

9 Checklist for Wanted Poster
I used my neatest handwriting. I used capital letters only where they belong. I wrote that I was looking for a good friend. I wrote words that describe a good friend. I neatly drew a picture of a good friend. I included my name, phone number, and address.
