1. Date : 15 th December 2015 Topic: The Skeletal and muscular system disabilities. Objective :To analyse causes of physical disabilities. WHAT IS A PHYSICAL DISABILITY? A physical disability is any condition that permanently prevents normal body movement and/or control. WHICH ARE THE CAUSES OF DISABILITIES IN HUMAN BEINGS? There are many different types of physical disabilities. Some of the main ones include: SICKNESS Muscular dystrophies When a child has muscular dystrophy, this means that the muscle fibres in the body gradually weaken over time. Acquired brain and spinal injuries Physical disabilities may result from permanent injuries to the brain, spinal cord or limbs that prevent proper movement in parts of the body.

2. Spina bifida Sometimes, a baby's spinal cord (the nerves that run down the spine) do not develop normally during pregnancy. Accidents Many women and children get disabling injuries at home by burns from cooking fires, falls, road accidents, and breathing or drinking toxic chemicals. Workplace accidents are a common source of disability. Hereditary portarits Every person develops under the influence of a mix of genes inherited from his or her mother and father. Genetic disorders can be inherited, in which case people are born with them, even if they are not noticeable at first. Some disorders, however, are not inherited but develop spontaneously when disease-causing mutations * occur during cell division *
