2 What is the Cause of Deviance? From an interactionist standpoint, causes of deviance come from within someone. I If a person grows up around violent or abusive parents, that type of deviance will embed itself into the person. nteractionists believe that causes of deviance sprout from previous deviance that one has lived through, and based upon this theory, peoples' mental states are key in why deviance occurs.

7 How can some subcategories of people be labeled as “deviant” by society? Even on a national level, people are not committed for the crimes they do. Differential Association is a learning theory which focuses on the process by which individuals come to commit criminal acts. Criminal behavior is learned in interaction with others in a process of communication. When a person is surrounded or in interaction with a deviant person, through their interaction with one another, deviant behavior is learned and passed on
