2 Objective This chapter discusses legends and schedules: what they are, the components they are used for, and how to draw them

3 What are Legends and Schedules? Information charts: used for particular categories of building components Legends: charts that typically explain symbols on a plan view drawing Schedules: charts that give detailed information about components shown in the plan –Referenced via call-outs or marks such as an ellipse, hexagon, or circle with a letter

6 Drawing a Call-Out Symbol Circles and hexagons are the most common shapes for window and door call- outs Ellipses are the most common shape for room finish schedules Room finish call-outs are placed at the center of the room Call-outs should not be placed over object lines or other symbols

8 Drawing the Schedule Tabular grid: information is lettered with 18' tall letters inside the grid boxes –Letters should not be placed on the grid lines –Sometimes dimensions are written like this: 3° instead of 3'-0' Grid schedule: may also be prepared on a computer using software that creates

9 Drawing the Schedule (cont’d.) Pictorial schedule: consists of drawings of each door and window type No one correct way to lay out a schedule A correctly done schedule is one that is organized and easy to read

11 Summary Legends and schedules are charts of information that clarify and explain specific building components –Omitted from the floor plan to make both the plan and the information easier to read
