2 Tests Used in SPS 2 Louisiana Believes iLEAP Grades 3, 5, 6, 7LEAP Grades 4 and 8 Spring AdministrationLAA 1 all grades and LAA 2 grades 3-8 End of Course: Algebra I, English II, English III, Biology, Geometry Initial Tests

3 Students Used in Assessment Index 3 Louisiana Believes All grades LEP students who have been in a US School for one or more academic years All students with disabilities Grades 3-8 All students, including repeat testers, unless they have accountability code or do not meet full academic year definition For EOC Initial testers for EOC courses EOC scores banked from middle school Students in third year of high school for Algebra I and English II regardless of enrollment

4 LEP Student Exception 4 Louisiana Believes Some LEP students will be excluded from SPS. Must have been in U.S. school less than one academic year Must have taken the test Must have an accountability code 81 applied to answer document (or assessment roster during certification)

5 Student Enrollment Rule for DPS/SPS 5 Louisiana Believes Student is included (full academic year) if: For DPS, student is enrolled in same district on October 1 and testing date. For SPS, student counts at school where enrolled on February 1 if LEA flag is Yes.

6 LEAP Phase 1/Phase 2: Different Sites in Same District 6 Louisiana Believes Student took Phase 1 at School A Student took Phase 2 at School B Student score counts where student was enrolled on Feb 1 if district LEA flag is Yes

7 LEAP Partial Tests Student took Phase 1Student did not take Phase 2 With accountability code, student score is not counted. Without accountability code, student score is 0.

8 Bonus Points 8 Louisiana Believes In 2012-13 Bonus Points are awarded in K-8 schools two ways: Student is repeating grade 4 or 8 and student earns higher score repeat year, or Student is taking LEAP again in summer, and earns summer score that is higher than spring score. Student can earn 50 points for each subject. Must meet full academic year definition. 2013 Growth SPS Student was non-proficient in spring 2012 and spring 2013 (no LAA), exceeded VAM goal, and was at the school on October 1 and February 1. Must be 10 in one or both subject groups and 30% exceed goal 2013 Annual SPS

9 Kinds of Accountability Codes (See User Guide for All Codes) 9 Louisiana Believes SIS Exit Reason Codes: Codes 1-39 and 97 are for students no longer enrolled such as: Student dropped out, died, or was expelled. Student transferred to another school or home study. Student completed school with diploma, GED, or certificate.

10 Kinds of Accountability Codes (See User Guide for All Codes) 10 Louisiana Believes Codes 80 through 99 are for enrolled students such as: Received the wrong kind of test. Have a doctor’s letter excusing them for medical emergency all days of test. Had a family member that died.Is in protective custody.

11 Impending Zeros 11 Louisiana Believes Students will be counted as a zero in SPS if: They are in grades 3-8, do not test and have no accountability code on pre-coded answer document. They are enrolled in a high school course with an EOC test and do not take the test if initial test. They are in high school and do not take the Algebra I and English II test by the third year of high school, except LAA 1 (even if they never enroll in classes). They take LAA 1 or LAA 2 and it is not indicated on the IEP.
