I READ THE UNWANTEDS BY LISA MCMANN Ross’ Febuary R&E

Summary When Alex finds out he is Unwanted, he expects to die. That is the way of the people of Quill. Each year, all the thirteen-year-olds are labeled as “Wanted”, “Necessary”, or “Unwanted”. Wanteds get more schooling and train to join the Quillitary. Necessaries keep the farms running. Unwanteds are set for elimination. It's hard for Alex to leave behind his twin, Aaron, a Wanted, but he makes peace with his fate— until he discovers that instead of a “death farm,” what awaits him is a magical place called Artimé. There, Alex and his fellow Unwanteds are encouraged to cultivate their creative abilities and use them magically. Everything Alex has ever known changes before his eyes, and it’s a wondrous transformation. But it’s a rare, unique occurrence for twins to be divided between Wanted and Unwanted, and as Alex and Aaron’s bond stretches across their separation, a threat arises for the survival of Artimé that will put brother against brother in an ultimate magical battle. Does Artimé prevail? Or does it fall to Quillean invaders during a great war? Read The Unwanteds to Find out.

R Dear Lisa McMann, My name is Ross. I recently read your book, The Unwanteds, for a project in school and I would like to ask you some questions about the book. How did you come up the The Death Farm, Artimé and Quill? What inspired you to write the book? Finally, how long did it take you to write the book? Thanks for your time, Ross S. 6 th Grader. 4 E (Part One) (Research book with same Genre) The Unwanteds Island Of Silence Also by Lisa McMann Genre: Fantasy Summary: The battle is over. The magical barrier between the dreary land of Quill and the fantastical world of Artimé is gone. Now residents of both places are free to mingle, but tensions are high. The artistic warriors of Artimé struggle to forgive those in Quill who condemned them to death, while the Quillens attempt to recover from the shock of Artime’s existence, the loss of their leader, and the total collapse of their safe, orderly world. :

E (Part 2) (Research book with same Genre) Title: The Hobbit Author: J.R.R Tolken Genre: Fantasy Bilbo Baggins lives in a beautiful hole under The Hill, where he's a respected (and rather rich) pillar of the hobbit community. Hobbits, are small people with furry toes and big bellies. They like beer and jokes and generally making merry. They believe in hanging out and not making too much trouble. But even though Bilbo has spent his whole life living contently under The Hill, an adventure comes to his doorstep and takes him far, far away.

End. I plan on reading Island of silence next and then The Hobbit.
