2 What is needed to bowl? You need to go to a bowling alley
Next you need a special pair of shoes Can rent these from the bowling alley Could buy your own You need to select a ball Again you can use the bowling alley’s

3 The ball The bowling ball comes in many different sizes
Try to select a weight you can handle Try to select a ball that has finger holes that fit your fingers Otherwise your fingers will stick Proper fit Need to fit your thumb, and two “middle” fingers For more info – check the web!

4 How to bowl Bowlers generally use a 3,4,or 5 step approach
Cue words for the 3 step are: Push the ball OUT SWING the ball back BOWL the ball down the lane Bend at your knees Bend at waist Slide on the foot opposite of the hand you hold the bowling ball The 4 or 5 step approach is simply one or two extra steps followed by the 3 step

6 Bowling Terms Alley: The surface on which the ball is rolled
Brooklyn (also known as a crossover): refers to a ball that crosses over to the other side of the headpin opposite the side it was thrown Channel (also known as the gutter): the grooves or drop-off area on each side of the bowling surface Perfect game: To roll 12 strikes in a row. Also known as a 300 game Double: To roll 2 strikes in a row Turkey: To roll 3 strikes in a row Four Bagger: To roll 4 strikes in a row Dutch 200 To alternate strikes and spares or spares and strikes throughout the game. Is scored as a 200 game.

7 More terms Delivery: The rolling of the ball
Curve ball: a ball thrown with spin that follows a wide arc toward the pins. Head Pin: The number one pin King Pin: The number 5 pin. It is a key pin to produce a strike Leave: Pins left standing after the first ball has been rolled. Lofting: Throwing the ball too high above the lane bed. Mixer: A ball that creates a lot of pin action.
