Before class: Bring necessary supplies Complete homework As you enter class: Say “hello” to me Sharpen your pencil if needed Fill in your planner Put your backpack next to you, or under your chair, not in the aisle Get out your Spring Board book and Reader/Writer Notebook Be in your seat and ready to start when the bell rings During class: Stop talking and give me your attention as soon as I give the attention signal Listen and pay attention to instructions Work and participate Follow directions End of class: Pack up when I ask you to, not before Return your Spring Board book to the shelf Fill in your Learning Target Log Pass the Learning Target log down to the left Stay seated until dismissed by me Push in your chair Say “Good-bye” to me Mrs. Shoe English/Language Arts

2. Sharpening pencils: Keep at least two sharpened pencils with you Sharpen before class starts If both pencils break during class wait to sharpen them until individual work time Using the restroom or getting a drink: Use the restroom or get a drink before class starts If you need to use either one during class, raise your hand and wait to be called on Fill out a hall pass and have me sign it Sign out on the sign-out sheet before leaving Sign in on the sign-out sheet when returning Asking questions: Raise your hand and wait to be called on before asking the question or leaving your desk Attention signal: I will count down from five to one When you hear me start counting please finish up your conversation Put your pencil or materials down Look at me Be quiet by the time I get to one Throwing away trash or recycling: Trash and recycling will be thrown away when you are dismissed from class Keep it at your desk until you are dismissed Finishing early: Complete any unfinished work Read your independent reading book

3. Absences: Check the daily agenda on my staff webpage Complete the planner for the days you missed using the whiteboard or a friend’s planner See me for questions at the beginning or end of the period-I am happy to help! Food in the classroom: Keep your desk and floor clean Make sure it is not a distraction Eat nutritious food Throw away garbage at the end of the period Extra help: See me during Go Time if you are in my Go Time class Email me sshoe@tahomasd.us Make an appointment if you need to see me before or after school-I am happy to help!!
