4. Residential Land Use
Low Density - Examples: single family houses, semi-detached houses, duplexes
- Less than 30 units per hectare
- Approx. 75 people per hectare

5. Medium Density - Examples: townhouses, low-rise apartments
units per hectare
- Approx people per hectare

6. High Density - Example: high-rise apartments More than 100 units per hectare - More than 250 people per hectare

7. Transportation Land Use
1. Vehicles
High Density Areas-mass transit systems like subways, streetcars, and dedicated bus lanes. Approx. 30,000 people per hour
Low Density Areas-residents in the suburbs are forced to use automobiles.

8. 2. Travel Paths
- Roads and highways that support vehicles.
3. Terminal Facilities
- Examples include parking lots, train stations, bus stations, airports and docks.

9. Commercial Land Use Local Service Centres
Street corner shops
Neighbourhood Plazas and Ribbons
Strip malls
Community Shopping Centres (Malls)
Bramalea City Centre
Power Centres
Big Box Stores
Regional Shopping Centres (Malls)
Yorkdale, The Eaton Centre
The Central Business District

10. Central Business District (CBD)
The CBD is identified the greatest concentration of the tallest
buildings
It includes financial, retail, entertainment and hotel land uses

11. Types of Products for Commercial Land Use
Low-Order Products
Item purchased frequently Relatively low in cost These items are usually close by Ex: newspaper, gas stations, Tim Horton’s etc.

12. Middle Order Products
Items purchased occasionally 1-2 times a month Ex: clothing, shoes, haircuts
High Order Products
Items that are purchased infrequently Ex: cars, lawyer, houses etc.
