3 We are glad you are here! We want the Media Center to be: –Inviting –Pleasurable –Enjoyable –A Good Place to Be Please bring in your smiling faces everyday!

4 But... We do have rules: Read Check-out, renew and return books Research – books or computers Complete homework Study While in the media center, you may

5 This Is Your Media Center If it falls to the floor... pick it up! If it falls over... straighten it up! If you decide you don't want it... put it back! This is your Media Center... keep it neat!

6 Media Center Access Hours are from 8:00 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. Before 9:00 AM, please get a pass from study hall in the 800 commons!

7 Books Two books may be checked out for two weeks Reference books may be checked out for one night only.

8 If a book is not available when you need it, you may put it on reserve. Please use the suggestion box to! You must pay for books that are lost or damaged beyond repair. Refunds will be given for found books.

9 Return books to the book drop. Overdue books cannot be renewed.

10 Fiction Books What does fiction mean to you? –Literary works whose content is not based on fact How are fiction books arranged? –alphabetically by the author’s last name Call numbers begin with FIC.

11 Nonfiction Books What does nonfiction mean to you? –Literary works that give facts and are not made up How are nonfiction book arranged? – Dewey Decimal system Call numbers begin with numbers.

12 Reference Books What types of books are called reference? Call numbers begin with REF

13 Magazines Current issues of magazines are displayed on the wall. Magazines cannot be checked out; read them while sitting in the Media Center.

14 Internet Use only the Cobb Virtual Library for Internet research ! Link is on Destiny Homepage Must have password for home use. (Refer to the password sticker in your agenda.) http://cvl.cobbk12.org

15 Printer You may print up to 3 black and white pages per day on the Media Center Printer, which is located behind Mrs. Thach’s desk. We do not have a color printer for student use in the Media Center.

16 Destiny The circulation desk is logged into Destiny at all times. You may not use Destiny Quest like a FaceBook account. If you do, you will lose your rights to the computer.

18 Log in using your student number and password. Save your work to YOUR STUDENT NUMBER. To transport work between home and school, use a portable flash drive. Log off computer before leaving!
