Objectives: 1.Summarize how President James K. Polk added Texas and Oregon Country to the United States. 2.Analyze the basis for division between the North and South over slavery 3.Evaluate the effects of the delicate balance between slave and free states in Congress. 4.Describe what life was like for slaves in the South. 5.Explain the growing crisis between the North and the South in the 1850s.
