7  January 16: U.S. 1 st and 3 rd Armies link up after a month long separation during the Battle of the Bulge  February 4-11: Roosevelt, Churchill, Stalin meet at Yalta  March 7: US forces cross the Rhine on the Remegen bridge.  May 7: Unconditional surrender of all German forces to Allies.  May 8: V-E day.  June 5: Allies divide up Germany and Berlin and take over the government.
