2 Welcome!! About the Rehearsal staff  Dana Petrini- Director  Teacher in SWSD since 2008  Currently a 3 rd grade special education teacher at Harker  Started the program in 2010 with $0 and no budget  Recently started a non-profit children’s theater organization- Swedesboro- Woolwich Little Theater  swlittletheater.org

About the Rehearsal staff  Debbie Hannold- Choreographer  Kindergarten teacher at Clifford!  Been here since the beginning!  Also part of my non-profit Organization- SWLT  Ashley Sermabeikian- Stage Manager  First year Kindergarten Teacher  Sarah Pasey- Stage Manager  First Year 2 nd grade teacher  April Pfeiffer- Attendance

6 Comet Club fee  $45  Please bring payment to auditions next week.  Check or Money order ONLY  Payable to SWBOE

7 Email  Please send all drama questions/comments/concerns to: swdrama2@gmail.com  Why?  It lessens the amount of emails on my school account  Primary form of communication  If you signed your child up online, but haven’t received any emails, it’s because your email address is entered incorrectly.  Please email- swdrama2@gmail.com with an accurate email address.

8 The name/plot of the play  Music Through the Decades  Travel back in time to the early 1900s and dance and sing all the way to present day. Each decade brings new and exciting adventures! Meet Shirley Temple, Michael Jackson, MC Hammer, and so many more!

9 Choreographers wanted  Mrs. Hannold can’t do it all!  We have a few and I help too, but we’d rather have you!  Do you have dance experience?!!?  Want to get back into it?!?!  Choreograph 1 dance or 2 (or 3)

10 Costumes  Please fill out your child’s costume information on the audition form AND online.  It is VERY important that you complete both! If we don’t have your child’s size, they will not get a costume.  2 nd grade drama club will provide costumes, but we will need help making/organizing them!

11 Costumes (continued)  Costume Manager- Mrs. Funchion  jfunchion@comcast.net  Costume Manager- Mrs. Frank  maureenfrank73@gmail.com  They need assistants! What does a costume assistant do?!??!  When given costumes, try them on your group  Make notes for what needs to be fixed, taken in, etc.  During the performance- stay with your decade to make sure they are dressed correctly  2 performances- 2 parents per night in each room

13 Music (cont.)  There is a lot of music to learn!!!!!!  Individual group  Full Cast  Drop Box- I will upload all of the music onto drop box for you to download

14 Auditions  MUST BRING THE AUDITION FORM!!!  Sign up on Sign-Up Genius  Thursday- December 10 4:00-7:00  Friday- December 11 4:00-7:00  You can choose your own audition date/time.

15 Audition Days @ Stratton  EVERY student will receive a part in the show  Stage presence  Singing Voice  Speaking Voice  Song- This Land is Your Land (can memorize)  Poem- Ice Cream Cake (can memorize)  Line up in the hallway and audition on the stage.  Parents should stay with their children at all times.  Children can leave after their audition P LEASE BRING THE AUDITION FORM !

18 Fundraiser Committee Head of the Fundraising Committee Raise money for the club- costumes, sets, props, special effects All New Fundraisers must be approved New: Pampered Chef- January online fundraiser Shipped directly to your house Last year–Gertrude Hawk (biggest one)- March, Pretzel Snack, Picture frames w/ photo, t-shirts, flowers, candy, food at intermission What am I missing?? Last year’s parents have offered to meet with this year’s parents to talk about the fundraisers.

19 Show Committee  Set up tables, organize sales for performances  (water, ice, pizza, pretzels, flowers, candy grams, etc)  Arrive around 5:00p and clean up after the show

20 Rehearsals  Monthly Calendar with Schedule  NOT attending rehearsal  COMMUNICATION FORMCOMMUNICATION FORM  Pretzel Sales  Students will not attend every rehearsal— based on their group  We need help!  Taking children to the bathroom  Keeping them quiet during other parts of the show  Reviewing previously taught dances  (Optional) teaching dances  FULL CAST- Means ALL of the children will be at rehearsal. I will need a lot of help on those days

21 Extra/ Extended Rehearsals  November 30- Parent Meeting- 6p-7p @ Stratton Library  December 10- Auditions- 4p-7p @ Stratton Stage  December 11- Auditions- 4p-7p @ Stratton Stage  April 9- All Day Rehearsal -FULL CAST- 9:00a-3:00p  April 12- Group 1 and Group 2- 3:00p-6:00p  April 13- Group 3 and Group 4- -3:00p-6:00p  April 14- FULL CAST- 3:00p-6:30p  April 15- PERFORMANCE @ 7pm @ Stratton stage  April 16- PERFORMANCE @ 2pm @ Stratton Stage

22 Sets/Sound  Sound: Jaclyn Oldt and James Oldt  NEW Sound Board and Mics!!!!  Have worked with us for 7 years (including summer theater)  Sets  Parent Volunteers to build/buy/design/etc  You WILL get reimbursed  Meetings- 6:00-7:30 on the stage  Thursdays- dates TBD

23 Donations  Wood for the set  Nails and screws  Old Costumes from dance recitals/ plays/performances  Costume Racks  Gaff Tape  Black, white  Look for an email wish list

24 Pick-Up/ Attendance  Children must be picked up at 5:00pm  Please send in a COMMUNICATION FORM with your child if:  they cannot attend their rehearsal  they will be going home with someone else  No note= unexcused absence  Have ID ready please  Until I learn faces and names, I will check IDs before the students are let go.

25 Y’s Kids Program  Children need a note telling Y’s kids when they will be coming from Drama Club Rehearsal  They will be walked down to Y’s kids from their rehearsal  Volunteers to make the program  I will write down all that needs to be put in the program, you would just have to make it.

26 Performance Dates  MUST ATTEND BOTH PERFORMANCEs  Make arrangements for them to attend all three shows  Sports, games, or other practices are inexcusable  School Performance– Friday April 15 in the AM  Friday April 15 @ 7:00 (Report time- 6:15)  Saturday April 16 @ 2:00 (Report time- 1:15)

27 Performances (cont.)  Admission- FREE!  Due the fire code, the number of tickets each student receives is contingent upon the number of students that join.  Tickets  Volunteer to design/make the tickets- 3 different colors. One color for each performance

28 Stage Managers  Help bring the kids to the stage and back to their dressing rooms when needed  Will read the script to learn the show  Will attend Saturday and Monday rehearsals  Will be back stage during the shows  If there is multiple stage managers they can trade off each night to see the show  4 stage managers would be ideal
