3 Symbiosis An ecological relationship between organisms of two different species that live together in direct contact

4 Commensalism A relationship in which one organism is HELPED and the other is NOT HARMED Examples:  Tree and Orchid (Brainpop)  Buffalo and birds (eat flies)  Remora and Shark  Sea anemone & clown fish

5 Mutualism A relationship in which BOTH organisms are HELPED. Examples:  Crocodile & Egyptian plover bird (Brainpop)  Tick Bird & Rhino  Tiger Groupers and Cleaner Gobies Tiger Groupers and Cleaner Gobies

6 Parasitism A relationship in which one organism is HELPED (it is the parasite) and the other organism is hurt but not KILLED (it is the host). Examples: Which is the parasite & which is the host?  Termite & Tree  Flea & Dog  Botfly & Mammal (Brainpop)  Tick & Rhino  Virus & Human

7 Predator/Prey This relationship is between two animals. One organism is HELPED or FED (predator) and the other one is KILLED & EATEN (prey). Examples: Which is the predator & which is the prey?  Bear & Fish  Human & Deer  Hawk & Jackrabbit (laser disc)  Sea lion & sunfish  Sea otter & puffer fish
