 ACE legislation  All students must pass four out of seven tests  Algebra 1, English 10, Biology, US History, Geometry, Algebra 2, English 11  Algebra 1 and English 10 are not optional.

 As of 9 th Grade, we are keeping score  GPA is important because….  GPA is figured by dividing the total number of “points” accumulated by the number of credits taken.  For non-weighted classes: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0.

 After her ninth grade year, Sara has earned 6 credits. Her report card shows:  1 st hour: A—4 pts  2 nd hour A---4 pts Total Points: 20  3 rd hour B----3pts Total Credits: 6  4 th hour C----2pts 20/6 = 3.33 GPA  5 th hour A----4pts  6 th hour B----3 pts

 As with any average, the GPA is MUCH easier to influence at the beginning than at the end.  It is very important for students to understand this and work hard during their ninth grade year to build the strongest possible GPA.  EVERY form or application they fill out for the next ten years will ask about their GPA.

 Pre-AP and AP classes are weighted as an incentive for enrollment and to determine class rank.  AP classes: A=6 B=5 C=4 D=1 F=0  PreAP: A=5 B=4 C=3 D=1 F=0  All others: A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1 F=0  Concurrent college classes are not weighted.
