3 Parliament’s advantages
The City of London remained on the side of Parliament throughout. London was the richest city and most important port in the land. The south of England was mainly for Parliament. The South had the largest population and the other major ports. The navy stayed loyal to Parliament. The areas which supported the king were poorer and had smaller populations.
