4 Who we are? Careers Choices Dewis Gyrfa ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Welsh Government. Trade as Gyrfa Cymru Careers Wales Provide all age independent and impartial Careers Information, Advice and Guidance (ISG) Deliver to a remit set by the Minister for Education and Skills.

5 Our Vision and Mission Our mission is for a Wales where individuals are inspired for a skilled economy Our vision for Gyrfa Cymru Careers Wales is to be acknowledged as the leading provider of all age careers guidance services in Wales

6 Our Impact Awareness – people in Wales will be aware of, and will understand, the learning, training and employment opportunities available to them and be able to make informed decisions about their careers Aspiration – with particular focus on those under 25 years of age – people in Wales will be ambitious and motivated to participate in employment, education and training Ability – people in Wales will become effective in the use of career management skills and competencies and in the management of their careers throughout their lives Action – people in Wales will be equipped with the confidence, skills and ability to make successful applications for, and sustain engagement with, employment, learning and training opportunities.

7 Policy Context Youth Engagement and Progression Framework The Framework requires an integrated approach from all organisations involved in delivering activity for young people, focussing on the needs of the individual. Delivered through a systems based approach to early identification of need, co-ordinated brokerage and tracking.

8 Policy Context Youth Engagement and Progression Framework This involves a new offer to young people, the Youth Guarantee, which is the offer, acceptance and commencement of a suitable place in education or training for a young person making the first time transition from compulsory education at age 16. This will provide a clear progression route for all young people, linked to effective information, advice and guidance to help them make a more informed choice, and support their progression post 16.

10 Tier 3 progression During the period of April 2013 to March 2014, 6923 young people entered tier 3 for the first time. During the same period 5000 young people left tier 3 into Work Based Learning (at all levels).
