2 Branches Legislative Congress- 2 from each state House of Representatives- 435 members Executive President & Vice President His Cabinet (a bunch of secretaries and Attorney General Judicial Supreme court- 9 Justices

3 Duties of Each Branch Legislative Make Laws Write bills, then discuss and vote on them Executive Approve Laws Receive bills, then approve or veto Judicial Enforce Laws Determine constitutionality of actions

5 Legislative Branch Senate Six year term Must be at least 30 years Must be a citizen for 9 years 435 members, divided by state population House of Representatives Two year term Must be at least 25 years Must be a US citizen for 7 years 50 members, 2 from each state

6 Executive Branch President Head of State Head of Gov’t of US Commander-in- Chief Elected every 4 years Must be at least 35 and natural born citizen Vice President Must be ready to assume presidency Also President of the Senate Votes in case of tie 9 VPs have assumed the presidency 4 have been elected president

7 Judicial Branch Supreme Court Members appointed by the president, confirmed by the senate Serve a life term until retirement Only removed by impeachment Interpret the constitution as it applies to each individual case
