Type 2 Diabetes  Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes that affects the world. It is most commonly found in African Americans, Latinos, and Asian Americans. This disease is caused by the body not producing enough insulin or the cells ignoring the insulin. In this case the glucose levels will be very high. Some symptoms of this disease include thirst, frequent or increased urination, and blurry vision.

Type 2 Diabetes can be treated by frequently checking blood.

Macular Degeneration  Macular Degeneration usually affects older adults. It is caused by damage to the retina which will cause damage to the central field of vision. Although the central field of vision is damaged, a person’s peripheral vision is not obscured and can be used in daily life.

Hypertension(HTN)  Hypertension(HTN), or high blood pressure, is caused when blood pressure in the arteries is elevated to abnormal levels and is forced against the arterial walls. While this is happening the heart is needed to work much harder to circulate blood through the blood vessels.

Cholesterol  Cholesterol is an organic substance which is classified as a waxy steroid of fat and is required to build and maintain substances. Cholesterol also modulates membrane fluidity over the range of physiological temperatures.  All animal cells manufacture cholesterol with relative production rates which vary by cell type and organ function.

Heart disease  There are many types of heart disease that can occur in people. Three of these would be atherosclerosis, heart attacks, and heart failure. Steps in avoiding heart disease would be not smoking, lowering blood pressure(if high), dieting, physical activity, etc.

Atherosclerosis Heart Disease  Atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) is when the inner walls of your arteries become narrower due to buildup of plaque. This would limit the flow of blood to the brain and heart.

Heart Attack Heart Disease  Heart attacks occur when the blood flow to a part of the heart is blocked, usually by a blood clot. Some signs that say you are having a heart attack would be pain in the arms, back, neck, jaw or stomach, shortness of breath, with or with out discomfort, etc.

Heart Failure Heart Disease  Heart failure is simply when the heart is not pumping blood as well as it should.

Cancer  In cancer, cells divide and grow uncomfortably, forming a malignant tumor. Once this has happened, these cells will invade other body parts. There are over 100 types of cancer including: breast cancer, skin cancer, lung cancer, colon cancer, etc. But not all tumors are cancerous. Tumors can also be benign or pre-malignant.

Cancer Patients will lose hair during their treatment.

Bipolar Disorder  Bipolar disorder is a psychiatric mood disorder in which people experience disruptive mood swings. Usually people will switch between joy and depression.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)  Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a problem with attentiveness, or activity. People with this disorder are unable to focus on most anything.

Alzheimer’s  Alzheimer’s was first described by Alois Alzheimer in 1906. Most people are over the age of 65 years of age.  First The patient cannot remember recent events. Next confusion, frustration, and loss of memory. Finally the bodily functions are lost which leads to death. Less than 3% live past 14 years after being diagnosed.

Alzheimer's patients often lose memory

Autism Spectrum Disorder  Autism usually appears in the first three years of life. This disorder affects the brains development of social and communication skills. People with Autistic relatives are more likely to have the disorder.

Asthma  Asthma is a disorder that causes the airways of your lungs to swell and narrow, leading to wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing. Asthma can be caused by allergic reactions.

Type 1 Diabetes  Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong disease in which there are high levels of sugar in the blood. Although it is usually diagnosed to children of young adults, it can be diagnosed to a person of any age. Symptoms of this would be: being very thirsty, feeling very hungry, having blurry eye vision, etc.

Crohn’s Disease  Crohn’s disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease. It usually affects the intestines, but may affect anywhere from the mouth to the rectum.
