2 Interoperability Showcase Participants Workshop 2 Outline “The play is the thing…” (Shakespeare) The Set: The Set: Clinical settings (PCP office, hospital) set up within the HIMSS Interoperability Showcase booth The Cast: The Cast: Vendors demonstrating their applications as actors playing a role The Script: The Script: the story that will be told, illustrating interoperability in a real-world clinical setting The Program: The Program: a Playbill, laying out the Acts, the Scenes and the Cast

5 Interoperability Showcase Participants Workshop 5 On Broadway! Docents are the “narrators” A person from the audience plays the “patient” Vendors are actors playing the “clinicians”  Eg. Dr. Jones, the Cardiologist  not to confuse with Profile "Actors"

6 Interoperability Showcase Participants Workshop 6 The L.A. Story: Act1, Scene 1 The L.A. Story: Act1, Scene 1 The play has Scenes  A point in time when something happens  Eg physician sees patient in his office The scenes are combined to build Acts  Short sequence of Scenes The Acts combine to form a Story  This year, a series of loosely-woven clinical themes Vendors act in the play as Cast members  New York cast; LA cast; etc. An Act, a Scene and a Cast bind to form a Showing  The audience is led by a docent through a Showing
