3  To expose students to the 'real' working environment and get acquainted with the organization structure, business operations and administrative functions.  To have hands-on experience in the students’ related field so that they can relate and reinforce what has been taught at the university.  To foster cooperation and to develop synergetic collaboration between industry and the university in promoting a knowledge economy.  To set the stage for future recruitment by potential employers.

4  A minimum of 100 credit hours from passed courses (subject) and credit transferred courses (subject) at the beginning of Trimester 2 2015/2016 inclusive of total credit hours registered for Trimester 2 2015/2016. ► Passed subject & credit transferred up to Tri 1 2015/16, plus ► Credit hours of subject registered in Tri 2 2015/16

5 Subjects that can be counted as credit hours  Subject taken and 1. Pass with grade A, B, or C or 2. Pass with PS  Subjects not taken but granted credit transfer Subjects NOT to be counted as the credit hours  Subject with grade : F, FL, U, W, I

6  Practical training period: 6 CALENDER MONTHS (24 weeks or more)  Commencing date: 1 st March 2016 until 30 th August 2016  Period of training: Covers 2 Trimester (Tri 3 & subsequent period of Tri 1)  Once the offer is accepted:  Withdrawal is not allowed  Subject to the respective Firm’s rules and regulations

7  Placement : Student’s Own Choice  Audit Firm: Any firm registered with MIA and located in Malaysia (including Sabah and Sarawak)  Commercial Company: The immediate supervisor must be a MIA member and the area must be accounting related section  Government Department: The immediate supervisor must be a MIA member and the area must be accounting related section

8  Call up the firm before sending out the application letters.  Find out whether there is a vacancy for trainees.  If the firm has vacancies, you have to ask for the person in charge. The person in charge may be from HR department, Training department, or any other departments of the firm.

9  Try to get the name of the person so that you can address the letter to the person in charge correctly in your application letter.  Letter without complete information (either information about yourself or the company) may result in not getting any reply from the company

10 Pre Placement Registration Documents: (a) Cover Letter (b) Confirmation on Student Status Letter (c) Application Form (d) Firm Confirmation Letter o Academic Transcript (Online Version is sufficient) o Reply envelope (WITH STAMP)

12 (b) Confirmation on Student Status Letter To fill-up the required information: Date of letter Person-in charge & firm’s name Students name & ID Type this letter on MMU letterhead This letter to be signed by Practical Training Coordinator

14 (d) Firm Confirmation Letter Company may also issued their own confirmation letter i.e Letter of Offer To fill-up the required information: Student ID Student’s name & ID This information to be fill-up by the respective firm & authorised by the firm

18  Refer to Flowchart for Practical Training Application procedures.  Choose a firm (MIA Audit Firm Database)  Fill up the four (4) documents (refer to FOB websites on BAC 4614 Practical Training).  Submit original copies of the (4) documents and academic transcripts to either the Practical Training Coordinators for checking, approval and signature.

19  If the documents are free from errors, the signed copy will be returned to the student.  Send the original copies of the four (4) documents to the firm directly.  Wait for the firm’s response.  If you don’t get a response from the firm within/about 2 weeks or so, give them a call and enquire on your application status.

20  Don’t wait until the last minute! It is your responsibility to contact and follow-up with the firm(s) of your choice.  Repeat the same procedures for the 2 nd firm (if applicable).

21  Once the company has made an offer to your application:  Student must accept the offer by signing the letter of offer, and  Make a copy of the letter of Offer and submit a copy to En Mohammad Ikhwan (Admin) to record the confirm place of training. OR

22  Company may signed the Firm’s Confirmation Letter and sent to the PT Coordinator by using reply envelope, or  Email the Firm’s Confirmation Letter to FOB, or  Collect the Firm’s Confirmation Letter by hand, please submit a copy to En Mohammad Ikhwan to record your confirm place of training.

23  Please do not submit the application forms to the firm without following the procedures.  Marks will be deducted when irregularities are found during the application stage as well as during the training period.

24 Practical Training is graded based on: MARKS WILL BE ASSIGNED WITH A GRADE MARKS WILL BE ASSIGNED WITH A GRADE <50% FAIL FAIL: re-take BAC4614 Employer’s Evaluation25% Weekly Reports25% Final Report50% Total100%

25 Marks to be deducted on the following issues: ► When student obtains more than one firm’s offer and fail to inform the firm whose offer he/she decides to reject; ► Asking for a change of firm after the offer is confirmed/accepted. ► Not adhering to the standard application procedures; ► Not adhering to the planned schedule.

26  Training Period: 1 st March 2016 until 30 th August 2016  Documents submission date: Latest by 31st December 2014 (Thursday) before 5.00pm to En Mohammad Ikhwan  Offer Confirmation: Due on 8 th January 2016 (Friday)  Final Report Submission: Due on 16 th September 2016 (Friday) before 5pm.  Second Briefing: 18 th January 2015 (Tentatively)

27  Effective Trimester 3 2014/15 Student is required to register the subject BAC 4614 Practical Training.  Registration of the subject is to be done in Tri 3 2015/2016 before the commencement of the practical training.  For the following Trimester 1 2016/2017 the registration will be automatically done by ERU/system

28 If a student quits the program after its commencement, ► NOT ALLOWED to register for any subjects offered in Tri 3, 2015/2016; ► He/she has to apply “Leave of Absence (LOA)” for ‘that’ trimester, subject to the Dean’s approval; ► Appeal will be looked into on case by case basis.
