After defeat of Pontiac, British gov. said settlers had to stay east of Appalachian When? 1763 Where? East coast south to Georgia. Why? What did the British want? Stop conflicts with American Indians. Colonists to stay along coast.

2 Key Concepts. P. 145-150, Road to Revolution Sugar Act, Stamp Act Who? Colonists and Britain. What? Taxes on British goods. Stamp required on paper documents. When? 1765 Where? Colonies Why? British needed money to pay for the war. Thought the war benefited the colonists so colonists should pay. What were the effects? Widespread protests. Boycott – People who organize to avoid purchasing a product. Parliament finally agreed to some changes.

March, 1770 Where? Boston, MA Why? Colonists resisted tax collections by British officers. Resisted unwarranted searches, and all sorts of stuff. What were the effects? Five deaths, six wounded. Galvanized colonial resistance to British tax collection.
