28 th /June/2010 Security & AV Systems Business Unit Panasonic System Networks Company WJ-NV200K/G Face Matching Outline

Mechanism of Face Matching Function 1,280 960 i-PRO Camera detects faces by face detection function. 150 200 For NV200 face matching, cameras must have - H.264 compression - SXVGA resolution - Face detection function. WV-NP502 / WV-NW502 WV-SP306 / WV-SP305 WV-SF336 / WV-SF335 i-PRO Camera transmits - video stream and - information of face frame as meta data to recorder 150 200 Meta data Video stream (1) Camera side

Mechanism of Face Matching Function Recorder receives video stream and meta data from camera. 150 200 Meta data Video stream (2) Recorder side 150 200 Meta data Video stream Video stream and meta data are stored into HDD. Register face image from playback. Face alarm Recorder does matching between registered faces and faces in live image. -> Make notice if matched! Live Viewing Recording

What can be done? ◇ Real time matching can be done, between face images registered to NV200 previously and face images in live video of i-PRO cameras. ◇ Up to 16 face images can be registered, and up to 8 faces of them can be used for matching. ◇ When a certain face is matched, NV200 can report as a face alarm. - Face thumbnail on a monitor - Terminal output (exclusive use of face matching ) - Buzzer rumbling - Notification by e-mail - Notification by Panasonic alarm protocol ◇ Face alarm search can be done from alarm logs.

Weak points of Face Matching ◇ Weak points of environments for NV200 face matching - Places where there are many peoples. (Ex. Station) - Outdoors (where luminance varies very widely.) ◇ Weak points of face characteristics for NV200 face matching - A person who wares a mask. - A person who looks right or left.

Limitations of Face Matching ◇ Limitations of NV200 Face Matching #Item 1Only channel #1 camera can be used for face matching. 2Channel #1 camera setting is automatically optimized for face matching, and recording condition of #1 follows the setting. Please refer to page 24. 3Accuracy of matching dues to camera installation and setting. Please refer to page 21-24. 4Live viewing can be up to 4ch during face matching working. 5Spot live sequence cannot be used during face matching working. 6Face matching does not work during playback. 7Face matching does not work during registration of face image. 8Up to 8 faces can be matched simultaneously. 9Alarm notification is likely to be delay. Please refer to page 20. 10“Face missing” is likely to occur if there are many faces at the same time. Please refer to page 20. 11Playback image of camera ch1 is recommended for registration of facial image. (Backup images of NV200 in SD card also can be used for registration, but they are not recommended except ch1 image of same recorder.) 12Registration and operation via network (browser, ASM100, …) are impossible.

Procedure of Face Registration

Click Face Registration Button in Setup Menu ◇ 1. New registration Face Registration Set to On

Click Add Button ◇ 1. New registration (continue) Face Registration

180x200 2. Entrance (3)Face registration with double-clicking ◇ 2. Face Registration from Playback Playback image can be selected from HDD (cam #1 only) or SD card (n3r file only). Face Registration (1)Do search & playback for face registration (2)Pause playback appearing face frame

◇ 3. Sensitivity Setup & Recognition On/Off Setup Face Registration Select sensitivity level: 1(Low)-5(High) Select recognition On/Off (Up to 8 faces can be “On”, although up to 16 faces can be registered)

“Auto image scan” Button for improvement of accuracy More effective face image for matching is automatically detected, during 3 seconds before and after face image selected manually. ◇ 4. Auto image scan Face Registration “Setup area” button Please see next page.

2. Entrance ◇ 5. Detection Area Setup Face Registration Up to 4 areas for matching can be set. (1)Click “Fix area” Button (2)Write rectangular (with clicking left-upper corner and right lower corner). 1 2 3 You can avoid irrelevant faces, for example, face on a poster.

Operation with Face Matching

Operation (1)Face thumbnail appears ◇ If face is matched… (2)Face alarm is reported by, Buzzer / Email / Panasonic alarm / Terminal output Face alarm 1ch

Operation ◇ Search from face alarm log 2009/12/20 20:15:20 Cam1 Person01 You can search and playback from past face matching alarm logs

Specifications of Face Matching

Camera Spec for Face Detection i-PRO camera can detect up to 8 faces at the same time. At least 48pixel x 48pixel face frame is required for face detection (in case of SXVGA picture). 1,280 960 1,280 960 48 Not detected less than 48x48 face Detected more than 48x48 face You should take care of many faces detected, because it will take much time that recorder processes them for matching.

Recorder Spec for Face Matching NV200 can process certain range of sizes of face, from 125x125 to 300x300. 1,280 960 Camera can detect over 48x48 faces. 60 150 200 350 1,280 960 NV200 can treat from 125x125 to 300x300 faces. 60 150 200 350 Faces out of range, will be discarded automatically, in both of registration and matching. *The reason why over 125x125 is required, is for accuracy. *The reason why under 300x300 is required, is for reduction of processing load.

“Face missing” is likely to happen, if face buffer overflows. Recorder Spec for Face Matching NV200 can process 2 faces per a second. Note that in condition of many faces, it will take much time for matching and delay of alarm report is likely to occur. NV200 has 25 face buffers. Note that face information over 25 will be discarded. So in condition of many faces, “face missing” will be likely to happen. Camera can detect (transmit) up to 8 faces simultaneously. NV200 can process only 2 faces per second.

Recommended Camera Installation and Settings

Recommended Camera Installation and Setup 1,280 960 (a) Please adjust camera angle of view, face width (a) to be in a range of 125 pixels to 300 pixels. (1)Camera angle of view For increasing accuracy of matching, please install and setup a camera for face matching with taking care of following items.

Recommended Camera Installation and Setup Height θ Camera θ Subject (2) Camera angle of depression Please adjust camera angle of depression (θ) to be less than 15 degrees. For increasing accuracy of matching, please install and setup a camera for face matching with taking care of following items.

Recommended Camera Installation and Setup For increasing accuracy of matching, please install and setup a camera for face matching with taking care of following items.
