2 What is a government? A government is a group of people who come together to make rules and laws as well as make sure that these rules and laws are enforced. A government is a group of people who come together to make rules and laws as well as make sure that these rules and laws are enforced.

3 Levels of Government National National –Located in Washington D.C. State State –Located in California Local Local –Located in Rancho Cucamonga Each level of government has: Each level of government has: An Executive Branch An Executive Branch –Makes sure laws are obeyed A Judicial Branch A Judicial Branch –Makes sure laws are fair A Legislative Branch A Legislative Branch –Makes the laws

5 State Government The governor of California is Arnold Schwarzenegger. Lawmakers meet in the capitol building which is located in Sacramento. The two groups that make up the legislative branch in California are the senate and the assembly.
