1 Expectations for Living in a Civilization Class Norms Quiet Norms Group Working Norms Voice Levels

2 I am Responsible Responsible: Come to Class on Time and Be Prepared (sharpened pencil, paper, book…nice attitude!) Ink pens Black or Blue is okay ------- Turn in homework in proper place. If you have had a bad day take a deep breath then smile and start fresh.

3 I am Respectful Respectful: Take your Seat and be Quiet and Considerate (wait for instruction in active listening position and use inside voice until teacher comes to podium) Be respectful of property - both school and peers (ask first – before borrowing, marking on desk, sitting on desk, feet on floor, teacher’s stuff is off limits) All four on the Floor (Chair legs bend easy) I control room temperature and windows. Smart Board use is by invitation only.

4 I am Caring Caring: Total Quiet during Independent Reading and Study Hall (talking, or making disruptive sounds or movements) Raise your hand and be patient while waiting your turn to speak in group discussions, listen to other student’s questions ( shout outs cause confusion) Positive language in class. (put-downs, name calling, harassments) Ask relevant questions.

5 I am Safe Safe: Follow the Student Handbook (Appropriate dress, no fighting or Horseplay, ect…) Door stays locked only the teacher may open or designated student as directed by teacher. Throwing anything is unsafe.

6 Positive Behavior Consequences Tiger Bucks rewards (Bucks that go in are not taken out for bad behavior) Charted in study hall time. Students may spend them at Carnival or save them for greater opportunities. Special Treats Awards (May not be shared if you don’t want it just say no thank you) Gum should not be seen (bubbles, twisting on your finger, on the floor, or shared and not leave the room.) I am open for ideas

7 Consequences Verbal Warning Student Conference (Student may be assigned written report in Time Out and/or Lunch Detention) Parent Conference (Letter, Phone, or in- person) Repeated minor offenses become major. Principal Conference (Interview or Disciplinary Referral)
