11 The American System  Henry Clay  Sought to tie the expanding nation together politically and economically. Contains 3 parts  1. Strong Banking System for lending  2. Protective Tariff (1916)  3. Transportation development (canals, roads, railroads built)

12 American System  Materials & food stuffs flow from South and West to Northeast while manufactured goods flow back to the South and West from the Northeast.

13 Sectionalism  Missouri Compromise (1820) Over maintaining an equal ratio of slave-states to Free-states. North Population growing faster. -Missouri enters U.S. as a slave state, Maine is added as a free state to balance things out.
