2 FRANCESCA- L’ORGANIZZATA “The communication market has become too confusing. The operators bombard you with all these offers but they don’t communicate honestly. It would be a waste of time for me to read all that information and try to understand how things really work”

3 FRANCESCA- L’ORGANIZZATA MOTIVATIONS: SELF Francesca is 33 years old. She is an established consultant and lives with her husband and their little daughter in an elegant flat close to the city center. She considers herself as a very lucky person because she has been able to realize her biggets dreams in life: she has a job that she enjoys, and a wonderful family. When someone asks her occupation is, she answers: ‘I’m a professional mother and a mother- professional’. Doing both things well requires a well organised life. In the evening Francesca plans next day’s activities and she is active from early in the morning in order to accomplish all her engagements. But at the end of the day she feels very satisfied knowing that she has been able to accomplish everything.

4 FRANCESCA- L’ORGANIZZATA MOTIVATIONS: FAMILY Francesca is very well coordinated with her husband. They share the same interests and, although they are both very busy with work, they are able to spend a lot of time together. During weekends they always find something interesting to do: seeing an exibition, going to a concert, spend some days on MOTIVATIONS: FRIENDS The also regularly see a group of friends, mainly couples of the same age, that they have known for years. Often Francesca manages to find special restaurants or bars, mabye unknown or hidden away in the countryside, where they can spend the evening togheter. She likes to organise everything in detail, and her husband jokes about how much she plans their private life. MOTIVATIONS: COMMUNITY For her own enjoyment Francesca reads magazines like CLASS COUNTRY and TOURING, where she can find interesting articles about places to visit, exhibitions, lifestyles and above all information about gastronomy and wines.

5 FRANCESCA- L’ORGANIZZATA MOTIVATIONS: WORLD For her work Francesca needs to be up to date about the situation of her clients and economy in general. She regularly reads two nespapers. Usually she skips the first pages, or just browses the titles, and goes directly to the economy section. She pays a lot of attention to how the news are angled and she’s very cautious about what the press says; she’s scared by the way news can be manipulated. To increase her sources of information, Francesca has installed satellite TV. She often watches BBC and CNN, so she practice English while getting the news. Sometimes she uses the Internet for work, but she’s not the kind of person that spends time surfing the web.

6 FRANCESCA- L’ORGANIZZATA MOTIVATIONS: MEDIA/DIMMITUTTO At home Francesca has two phones, one cordless and one stationary. She both has a TELECOM and an INFOSTRADA subscription, but she rarely uses the latter because of the poor the sound quality. She called customer services about the matter, but she wasn’t able to solve the problem, which frustrated her very much. In general, Francesca doesn’t trust telephone companies much because they change rates all the time and communicate in an ambigous manner. For these reasons she never reads advertisments about new services and stopped making comparisons. She feels it is a waste of her time. If the communication was clearer, she would probably pay more attention. She uses her fixed telephone a lot, especially to talk to her clients and. She also uses the phone to talk to her family. If she has to call someone on their mobile phone, she uses her own mobile because thyat is where she has these numbers stored. She would like it if the telephone service could filter her calls and make appointments on her behalf. “My life depends on the telephone, I am thankful that it exists.
