1 The War for Independence Chapter 4 Section 1 Vocab

2 Parliament The national legislature of the United Kingdom, made up of the House of Lords and the House of Commons. Parliament is the British version of Congress.

3 Prime Minister The head of an elected government; the principal minister of an a country. Many countries today have Prime Ministers, it is a similar position to the U.S. President.

4 Duty / Duties A tax charged by a government, especially on foreign made goods.

5 Propaganda Information usually of a biased, or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular political cause or point of view.

6 Redcoats A term for British soldiers. The term is a reference to the bright red coats which the soldiers wore while in uniform.
