3  Bullying is a type of aggressive behavior  Repeated behavior: It always occurs more than once  The treatment is intentional  Bullying is hurtful and very unkind  There is an imbalance of power and the victim most times can’t defend himself

4  The first is physical bullying  There is also verbal and written bullying  Third there is social bullying  Last there is cyber bullying

5  Hitting, slapping, elbowing, shoving, kicking, pinching or restraining  Stealing or damaging another person’s property

6  One kind of verbal bullying is name calling  Making racist or rude remarks about someone  Intimidating graffiti  Whispering rude comments behind someone’s back

7  Being teased over and over  Threats and intimidation  Mean notes  Mean graffiti

8  Spreading gossip on your phone  Posting mean videos on youtube  Sending mean emails  Posting mean things on face book

9  Leave it on the screen and go get an adult right away  Print it out  Tell an adult, teacher, or parent

10  Destroying someone’s reputation  Humiliating and embarrassing someone  Gossiping or spreading rumors  Excluding someone from an event or group

11  Loneliness  Low self-esteem  School fights and possibly school shootings  Suicide  Eating disorders  Poor grades and poor performance in school

12 Some students bully and some are bullied. Some experience all types of bullying!

15  Bullying occurs in all grades  It may occur as early as ages 3-4  Most times it peaks in middle school  May occur at home  Outside of school, at parks, and other public places  Parking lots  Commons areas  Between Buildings  Classrooms without the teacher present

19  Catch them in the act of bullying  Have clear consequences in place  Provide counseling  Help them manage their anger  Catch them being good

21  Identify possible targets  Look for warning signs  On-the-spot responding by all school staff, no bullying will be tolerated

23  Develop Empathy: put yourself in someone else’s shoes, what would it feel like if you were getting bullied  Break the Code of Silence ◦ Take surveys ◦ Encourage students to share their stories about bullying ◦ Respond effectively

24  If you see someone being bullied, tell the teacher or an adult  If you know that someone is being bullied, tell the teacher or an adult  If you think that someone might be bullied, tell the teacher or an adult  If you do nothing about bullying, you’re saying that bullying is okay with you.  We have the power to stop and prevent bulling in our classrooms, but we have to work together.
