Definition Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated, or has the potential to be repeated, over time.
Physical Bullying Physical bullying includes hitting, kicking, tripping, pinching and pushing or damaging property.
Verbal Bullying Verbal bullying includes name calling, insults, teasing, intimidation, homophobic or racist remarks, or verbal abuse.
Covert Bullying Covert bullying is often harder to recognize and can be carried out behind the bullied person's back. It is designed to harm someone's social reputation and/or cause humiliation.
Examples of Covert Bullying Lying and spreading rumors Negative facial or physical gestures Playing nasty jokes to embarrass and humiliate Mimicking unkindly Encouraging others to socially exclude someone Damaging someone's social reputation or social acceptance.

What to do if you’re being bullied: Ignore the Bully Stand Up for Yourself Don’t Bully Back Don’t Show Your Feelings Tell an Adult
What to do if you see someone getting bullied: Step in IMMEDIATELY Separate the kids involved Find an adult & ask for help Stay calm Model respectful behavior when you step in
What NOT to do: Don’t ignore it Don’t assume that adults are automatically there Don’t try to sort out the facts on the spot Don’t try to work it out right there together
