1 Installation of Gil’s Fuel Box By Albert “ARAMP1” Rampone

3 THE SUBJECT We’ll be installing Gil’s Box on my 2004 Black B model I named “Black Sunshine” It was actually raining at the time, so no tuning today  The configuration of the bike was going to be topless with K&N and force pipes for some noise, but I’ve decided to play around with some gutted, stock pipes first. We’ll see what happens…

4 PREPARING FOR THE INSTALL I’ll be running topless, so the first order of business is to relocate the Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensor to the filter cover. To do this, I simply drilled a similar size hole in the lid and slipped the IAT sensor in. I used a rubber grommet to help keep a good seal. NOTE: TAKE THE COVER OFF BEFORE DRILLING THE IAT SENSOR HOLE. FAILURE TO DO SO COULD RESULT IN DEBRIS IN THE THROTTLE BODIES!!!

5 DISCONNECTING THE FUEL INJECTION PLUGS Pull the “U” shaped pin in the plug allowing the plug to slip off of each fuel injector. (Mine were marked front and rear) NOTE: IT IS IMPORTANT NOT TO MIX THE FRONT AND REAR STOCK PLUGS WITH GIL’S PLUGS!

6 GAINING ACCESS TO THE FUEL INJECTION PLUGS The instructions recommended doing all the work on the right side of the bike, but I found it very easy to work from the left side after the horn was removed. Here is a picture of the front and rear fuel injection plug. Two of the factory connectors from Gil’s Box will plug into these and the two remaining plugs will plug into the fuel injectors

7 VIEW FROM THE RIGHT SIDE It’s kind of hard to see it in this picture, but here is what the pugs look like after being connected to Gil’s harness before being connected to the fuel injectors It’s crowded, but easy to position the wires so they are not resting against the engine

8 READY TO TUNE Now, with the wiring harness back together, I’ve routed the box wiring around the bottom of the air box. There is a ground wire to connect to a grounding point also. I have it sitting here for the initial tuning. Eventually, I will drill a hole in the airbox bottom for the wiring to pass through and use the zip ties and velcro provided to secure the wiring and box.

9 CONCLUSION In under an hour, I’ve installed Gil’s Box on my V-Rod using common hand tools and I barely got my hands dirty. I still have to do tuning and cleanup, to include installing the airbox cover.
