4 The DigiTV Audience There is a clearly defined audience for DigiTV: Digitally and socially excluded, with a focus on the C2, D and E demographic The elderly Disabled people Patients with long term conditions and the ‘worried well’ Evidence suggests that these people are the highest users of public services, the most expensive to service and the most difficult to reach Results from recent Microsoft & Ofcom surveys: 30% Of current OAPs and “Baby Boomer” Generation are computer illiterate 97% Of households have a television – which will have to become digital by 2012 52% of non EMG households and 63% of EMG households already have TV capable of accessing Looking Local 90% of the adult population owns a mobile phone
