We think, Russia is the best of all possible worlds

The Geographical Position of Russia

Russia is washed in the north by the Arctic Ocean and its seas: the Barents, Chukchee, East Siberian, Kara, Laptev and White Seas, in the south by the Black, Azov, and Caspian Seas; in the east by the Bering Sea, the Sea of Japan, and Okhotsk Sea; in the west by the Baltic Sea.

Russia is a land of long rivers and large lakes

Among the world's longest rivers rank the North Dvina, the three mighty Siberian rivers: the Ob, Lena and Yenisei, and the Amur. The largest of all Russia's rivers is the Volga. The three largest lakes in Russia are Baikal in South-Eastern Siberia and Ladoga and Onega in Northern Russia.

The relief of Russia is mostly flat

It's located on two plains: the Great Russian Plain and the Western Siberian Plain. There are three main mountain ranges in Russia. The Caucasus stretch from the Black Sea to the Caspian Sea. The highest mountain is Mount Elbrus. The Urals extend from the Arctic Ocean to the steppes. They divide the European and Asian parts of Russia.

People of Russia

Russian nature, spirit and genius come together in the greatest people of our land.
Russians think of themselves as members of the community rather than as individuals. The origin of the Russian communalism lies deep in the vastness of the Great Russian Plain. The harsh climate explains the Russians' strength, their ability to overcome hardships, as well as their patience and submission. Their cruel climate, harsh history, and sceptical outlook on life have made Russians value stability, security, social order, and predictability, and to avoid risk. To understand the Russians, one must know where they come from.

Famous people of Russia

The national property which makes us proud is its greatness: talented scientists, experts, famous philosophers, outstanding inventors, musicians, writers, artists. Yury Gagarin was the first man to orbit the Earth. D. Mendeleev was the creator of his famous "Table of chemical elements". Russians chess players were the champions in the world. The Russians invented thermo–nuclear weapon. Pavlov, Mechnikov, Bunin, Solzhenitsyn, Leont’ev, Kapitsa, Prigozhin are the Noble Prizers.

Buildings in Russia

Russians build such colossal things as the Cathedral of Jesus Christ the Saviour, the Kremlin's Palace, the Rossiya Hotel in Moscow, the Mother Russia Monument in Volgograd. We are proud of Ostankino Tower, Lomonosov State university.

Nature in Russia

It’s great to live in Russia because there are different beautiful landscapes, quiet villages surrounded by fields and woods. The countryside around the village is green, with fertile fields and rich vegetation. Through the village flows a wide, clear river. Our land is remarkable for its wealth. There is gold, platinum, diamonds, coal, nonferrous metals, peat, oil, gas and wood.

We think that we prove you that our country is the best of all possible worlds. We are proud of Russia and we are happy to live in this wonderful country.
