7. Words you need to know… Credit---Official certification that a student has completed a course. At BGHS, we have whole (1) credit courses and half (1/2) credit courses. Semester---One of the two divisions of an academic year. 1 st semester--the start of school to winter break (August – December). 2 nd semester--after winter break until the end of the year (January – May) Prerequisite—What is required before you can take a class Transcript---A student’s academic record. 13. Grade Point Average Class Rank A temporary GPA is figured at the end of each year and a final one is done during the senior year. Rank in class is determined by the numerical grade point average.
