7 Words you need to know… Credit---Official certification that a student has completed a course. At BGHS, we have whole (1) credit courses and half (1/2) credit courses. Semester---One of the two divisions of an academic year. 1 st semester--the start of school to winter break (August – December). 2 nd semester--after winter break until the end of the year (January – May) Prerequisite—What is required before you can take a class Transcript---A student’s academic record. Core Courses—Academic courses recognized by the NCAA Clearinghouse

8 Math Requirement All students are required to take a math course every year of high school. 13 Grade Point Average Class Rank A temporary GPA is figured at the end of each year and a final one is done during the senior year. Rank in class is determined by the numerical grade point average. The final averages of all courses are counted in figuring the numerical GPA. The student receives a decimal GPA based on a 4.0 scale with the following values assigned A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1 F=0

15 Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES) Awarded to graduating seniors who will attend a Kentucky College, university or technical school. The amount received will be based on each year’s GPA and a one time bonus for the ACT score.
