7 Recommended Guidelines for Enrollment in Honors & AP Courses Students must complete the necessary course prerequisites. Student performance in the subject area must be strong as measured by the AP / Honors Matrix. –Performance in subject area from previous years. –Performance in subject area from current year. –Current year’s teacher assessment of student. –Performance on Standardized Test (8 th grade). –Performance on Final Exam/Regents (9 th – 11 th grade). A student appeal process is available to address special circumstances and individual needs.

8 Opportunities to Learn High School is a journey, not a destination. –Goal is to graduate in 4 years and continue the learning journey to college, work, technical school, military & beyond. Student Support –Select Skills Program –Teachers are available to assist students during 10 th period –After School Academic Eligibility Program –Writing 9 –Math Labs –Peer Tutoring

9 Grade 9 Student Program Nine Period Instructional Day Regular School Day: 7:10 AM – 1:50 PM Clubs are held from 1:55 – 2:25 PM Sports Program begins at 2:30 PM Teachers collaborate in a team setting A systematic approach to implementing interventions Student Progress is monitored every three weeks Lunch Bunch Program

13 Grade 9 Orientation Student Visitation Day 8 th Graders Visit the High School in late May Tour the School Community Meeting with Student Representatives, Building Administrators, PPS Staff & Athletic Director Meeting with Guidance Counselors
